The last two we did were in pretty good shape so I figured we'd try a car truly in need of a resto this time. I have Email the guy and he says it is a true grabber, Just no rear Spoiler. Without seeing the VIN plate it's hard to know for sure, but I'll trust the guy for the moment. What do you think? It's rusty but saveable. I'm goin to say the $1200 opening bid is about all I'd pay for it.

Even if it's a grabber.....It's looking like a parts car to me. $200-500.

It looks solid enough. But without seeing it person you never really know. Holes cut with a torch to grease the front end. It says it's been in an accident so it would really depend on how bad it was and if it had been fix right. Like I said $1200 would be the most I'd Pay.

I just noticed there is no front bumper and the rear is bent up and rusted through. I retract my Price. $500 is it now.

850.00 Tops...It is a Grabber if the given partial vin is correct (1X93) As for the accident...Where was it hit...This could make me lower my offer dramatically and change my mind as to whether it becomes a parts car or a tube chassis drag car.

There is a 2nd area on the vehicle idenification tag, that shows whether it is a Grabber.

You could try emailing him and asking him what the Body Code is....but don't tell him what the code is for a Grabber. The correct body code for Grabber, is not shown the same, as the 93 in the VIN. It has its own designation.

I'll wait to list what it is here, but most of us on the forums know what it is, and this way, he can't look up your post on here, and see what to email you back. :D

It depends how much rust is there, and having better more close up photos, but If I were buying it, I would make up an itemized list of what all the important parts would cost, and go from there for a parts car. The price you named is definately NOT too high if you don't have most of parts listed below, and want them for your car. It is getting harder to find these parts, and NOT cheap.

It's already 5-lug, has both sport mirrors, has the Grabber hood, probably still has the hard to find linkages for the floor shift setup (shifter rod, column lockout rod, double-sided tranny bracket, original floor shifter), has both 71 High Back Bucket Seats with the original tracks, and back bench, the deluxe door panel/s look questionable.

I'd have to go right at price at 1,200 as a restoration project. I've seen worse sell for more...Hell mine was about the same when I salvaged it from the guys back yard at the beach! Driver and passenger sport mirrors, the desirable automatic on the floor, bucket seats with brackets, grabber hood (salvagable? maybe/maybe not) 5 lug all around. and the 200 runs? the power steering is on about 60 or 70 bucks for the unit I think is what I paid for it? Almost new tires? that cars a rebuilder, not a parts car....especially if it's a true grabber. probably still has some v8 parts on it as well if it used to have a v8. Mine used to have a v8 and I find minor things on it all the time that were never removed when they put the 250 in...and the rust is not awful from what I see in the pictures.

I dunno things on this car seem a little fishy to me. The ad says it's an original V8 Grabber. But it's been down graded to a straight 6 the spoiler was removed, the grabber hood doesn't match and he's only given the first few digits of a VIN #. My first impression is that it was just a maverick with a grabber hood put on it. But then again I'm generally pretty sceptical about these things.

That's really all you need. The 93F tells you it was a V8 Grabber.

I REALIZE THAT BUT HELL NEARLY ANYONE THAT OWNS A MAVERICK KNOWS THE 93 IN THE VIN IS A GRABBER, Sorry about the caps. It's easy enough to give 4 digits of a vin that nearly every maverick had. I'm just alittle sceptical is all.

Sorry I upset you. He actually provide 5 digits, and the 5th denotes a V8. All the other digits are usless for ID purposes. You made an issue with the VIN and that was the only reason I mentioned it.

I believe the answer to why all the good stuff is missing, is the other Maverick in the background. You know this car was probably picked clean of anything decent when you see a nicer Maverick parked behind it.

I get a kick out all the controversy over a $1200 parts car. What would you expect to get on Ebay for that kind of money?

LOL Nobody is upset about anything. I'm just saying I'm a sceptic is all. I once bought a RUST FREE Car for a friend through Ebay and when it got here it was a mess. When the guy said rust free he must have ment the rust on the car was no charge. The car was supposed to be one of the finest examples in the US and turned out to be a total mess. so I'm always alittle sceptical about car I can't see and touch.
