I'm in the process of building a little 250 strait 6 for my 76 Maverick. I've already got a later model big valve head/intake in the machine shop for milling, and a 2 barrel conversion. And I just ordered a header from Mustangs unlimited. Now I just need a cam, and a carb. Has anyone ordered one of the rebuilt holly weber 2v carbs from the Langdon Stovebolt website? If so how did it work out for you?
I would also appreciate any input on what cam I should use. I'm not looking to launch the thing into space or anything. I just want it to be able to keep up with the rest of the herd.
    Thanks.

You want a cam with about 206 to 220 SAE duration (duration at .050"), and a lobe separation andle of 110 - 114 degrees. Keep the lift to around .448 or so and be sure to get springs with your cam (get the kit).

If you get a cam from www.classicinlines.com and want to stick with hydraulic lifters you may want to consider the 274 cam and get the one with either 110 or 112 centerline. If you want a solid lifter cam the 278 cam is also a good choice. I am running the 278 cam with 110 centerline with it advanced 4 degrees. Great low end and midrange power and it idles nice at about 700-800 rpm in gear. :thumbs2:
