I need to replace my fuel tank. Can some one point me in the right direction?

I can't find a new or even a remanufactured one, for a 74' but will the 76'-77' ones work?

Also, not sure if reconditioning mine will work it's pretty shot.

    Thanks for any input.

i had the same thing happen to my 75. i finally found a new one but it was for a 76 and 77. as long as you get the straps for the tank it will fit.

Mavaholic gave me the following part numbers that fords still makes to get the fittings for the top.

You will need the grommet which is part # F6TZ9B076AA and the fitting part # E7DZ9B593A.

see this post for my questions about this same problem.

    Thanks

Thanks! I did find a new tank on gastanks.com, or something like that, for a 76-77.

I did find a fuel sender on autokrafters.com that is for a 73 - 75 if that helps.
    Part # is D5DZ-9275B.

It's actually holding up your car? Or do you mean that metaphorically? :D

Thanks, Mav Man just had time to read the other thread, and it sounds like I'll go with the 76' new one. I also saw Mavaholic's change out of the stang tank, but the metal work seemed a bit involved.

Let us know if you solve the fuel sender issue I may need one of those too, although mine was working before the tank leak.

Just changed out my 74 gas tank for a 76. the sending unit was a bit rusty but operating okay. You will need new straps as the 74 ones are too short. Got the tank from spi out of Phoenix for $175+ tax. Straps were 25+. You will also need a new vent on top the old 74 on is too big.
