We use them all the time where I work..... We do some custom stainless exhaust systems and use the stepped stainless band clamps on the mufflers, they are much nicer then traditional u-bolt clamps..... They hold great and we have no seen any leak problems.....

Also Ford has been using band style clamps on Mustangs and other veichles since atleast 05.....

I agree with frank, I use them any chance I get now. MUCH better than the old style u clamp. I have yet to have a problem with them on a few different exhausts.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
I was at home depot once and they have some stainless bands there for PVC pipes. I've wondered if they could be used on an exhaust. They're only like $1.25, which makes them tempting. They look just like the exhaust kind.

They support the tubes better and have little to no deformation.

Yep, been using them for about the past 10 years at the mufflers. Makes it easy to disassemble the exhaust for tranny work. Unbolt the header collectors and bands and the whole center section of the exhaust drops out.

they work great i have them on my truck in 4 places. where the headers meet the y-pipe, wher the y-pipe meets the mid pipe, and where the mid pipe meets the muffler. only problem i have is they dont seem to hold up well if taken off and on alot. my exhaust is always coming off and going back on when switching from full exhaust to torque tubes when at the track. so i get about 30-40 on/offs before i have to replace them.

Used them at work on Chryslers for years now. They work great for ease of removal. Huge improvement over u clamps and crushed pipes. Dont want to buy ours though. USed to be around 50 bucks each. 99% of time warranty work though so price didnt matter.

The stainless clamps are more expensive but they last longer.
