oil in spark plugs

    hey i had a quick question
    there is oil in my 73 comets spark plugs. does that mean i have to reseal the engine?

    Depends on where the oil is coming from. How much oil was on it?

    it had quite a bit of oil
    i think its from the head gasket.

    do a compression test. Have you driven the car much and does it use oil?

    Do a compression test. Could be valve seals but most likely rings.

    Also do a leakdown test, it will better determine where the problem is at.

    i would think...raw oil...would be...valve seals.
    should be...black smutt if rings.

    pull the oil cap when it's running and warm, if it looks like a choo-choo train it's more likely rings, a small amount of oil vapor out of the fill hole is normal. PCV system could also be an issue if you have aftermarket valve covers and no baffling to keep liquid oil out of the system or if the valve itself is stuck open or internally broken.
