On a 77 with a 250 the vaccuum advance on the distributor where does the vaccuum line go? would the cause backfiring through the exhuast if its not hooked up?

The vacuum hose connects to the side of the carburetor (top hose in pic going over the fuel filter). It shouldn't cause massive back fire...but it might have a small pop.

I already have a vaccuum line hooked to that. It is coming from a hard line on the engine. Also there is a hook up for a big vacuum line on the bottom of the carb where does that go to?

This is for a 1bbl. carb on a 77 250 if that helps.

The big vacuum line on the bottom goes to the PCV valve. The only hard line I know of is to feed the transmission modulator valve and it hooks to the intake. Check out these diagrams and see if you can figure out what you got going on. http://www.1bad6t.com/Maverick/repair/75Vac.html
