decided that my chevy dually, that got 6 mpg was not the way to go. i have to go to ft. worth, texas to pick up my new enclosed trailer next month, and to bakersfield calif. on oct 5th. i picked up a new f-250 crew cab with diesel power last wed. night. man is it hard to keep it under the speed limit. it's bright silver and is going to match the trailer.:D another benefit is that now i won't get harassed about pulling my maverick with a chevy.

Congrats, those Diesel Fords are awesome. Sure the heck beats a gas motor for towing. On my recent trip to Indiana to pick up the 4door from Craig my brothers '95 F250 got about 10mpg which isn't too bad for towing a car but I've heard the diesel guys talk about 18-20+mpg and towing power to spare. Have Fun.

I have an '03 F250 Crew Cab with the 7.3. I get 11mpg while towing 9000lbs of travel trailer and 20mpg while not towing. Get's better mileage than my wife's Windstar. Don't know if the extra mileage offsets the Diesel option costs but it sure is fun to drive. One bad thing is do you buy parts to hop up the truck or the Maverick???(y)

    mav....

hop up the mav .... A buddy of mine has a 02 f-350 dually 4 door and has added just about every thing imaginable (superchip, frt & rear bumpers, coupla tv's w/dvd, every gauge ever made ...etc....) and has reached the wonderful mpg of 11 ...... that's empty or towing ..... meanwhile, my 1989 E-250 3/4 ton w/ the 7.3 w/ 170,000 miles gets 17 mpg ..... Robert(y)
p.s. I think the 4 dr long wheel base 1 ton single axle w/the powerstroke is the best riding truck out there .... and another friend that owns one says he gets about 17-20 mpg ....;)

Don, congrats on the new truck. I am still using an 81 suburban 454, 4 mpg. I hope to get exactly what you have in the near future. Been kinda snooping around a HUGE salvage yard here that deals in builders. Trucks like that are hard to find in builder form for some reason.

Don those new 6.0's are increadible pulling machines. check out www.thedieselstop.com for a great diesel forum, and all the info you would ever want (and somethings your don't) to know about your 6.0. I just got back from Indy where International builds the engines(took the plat tour) It's amazing on how well those engines are built. BTW your rods are cracked(that's how the seperate the rod caps from the rods) Really cool procedure. Good Luck with it. Russ

russ, did get on thedieselstop.com. great site. was thinking of the banks exhaust system and the edge chip but a guy on there had his truck engine blow up and ford voided his warranty. think i'll wait for a while. this will most likely be the last truck i buy in my lifetime. got the 10 year, 100,000 bumper to bumper warantee.:D

If you look through the websight you'll find another guy that had his warrenty voided because he had power add ons. He took his truck in for something minor and unrelated to the drive train. They saw the power selector switch and his goose was cooked. I'm not touching mine till the warrenty is long gone. Besides, it has plenty of power for my needs in stock form.
