I am having tranny issues and was curious what transmissions can i put into a 200 Straight 6 3.3L ... Plan on picking up a good tranny from the local yard to get me by until I can put my 302 in it. Also its column shift, not floor.
Tranny issues I agree, by all means stick with the C4 transmission. It is a direct replacement which will be easier on the pocket.
you will want a 73 or later C4 with PEE on the tag or one from any V8, 240, 250, or 300 six from 73 or later with the small V8 bellhousing.
You will have to change the bell out with your 200 one, then when you make the swap, you will need the big one back on. Get the converter and flywheel if you can too. And it is prefered to go ahead and get the V8 one now, the small 6 doesn't have as many clutches in the packs.
Yes, Yellowstang is correct. All C4 transmissions are interchangable. The bellhousing should be changed and reused if you are not changing motors. If you go this far you might consider looking at the freeze plugs in the back of the block to make sure they are still dry. If there are signs of corrosion or leakage this would be a good time to change those out as well. Good luck in resolving your transmission issues.
