Hey Guys, My names Matt, I'm 45, and live in Freeport Fl. I've always been a big fan of the Ford Maverick. In fact I learned to drive in a Maverick. Back in the late 70's, when I was just getting old enough to drive we had 2 Mavericks in the family. My mothers green 6 cylinder 4dr, and my older brothers red and white 2dr v8 grabber. My brother taught me to drive in moms car. He wouldn't let me anywhere near his pride and joy. I did however get to test drive the Grabber once or twice, without his knowledge. That little car really would fly. It had a 302 with a 3 speed manual tranny, my brother always kept it tuned up, and shinning like a new dime. Anyway, here I am almost 30 years later, and I finally have a Maverick of my own. I happened across it on Craigs list the other day, and Immediately called the owner and made the deal. It's not exactly the car I lusted after as a kid, but it's got a lot of potential. It is a 1976 2dr, 250 strait 6 with a c4 automatic. The body is real strait, but has some rust. The interior is in very good shape for it's age. Some yahoo painted it recently, but did a horrible job. It runs surprisingly well for having sat for the last 5 years. The guy I bought it from only had it for about 6 months. He put allot of new parts under the hood, but he was never able to get it running. I spent about 4 hours, and 35 dollars on it this morning and have it purring like a kitten. I think I'll drive it for a while as is and then decide if I have the time and energy to restore it. I'll upload some pictures as soon as I learn how. Take care, and Happy motoring.
