Putting on the manifold today and I broke the ear off in the rear. Anybody use JB Weld before and know if it might hold ? The manifold has 13-18 ft lbs of torque. My wrench wasn't working so I was putting to much pressure on and broke a bolt off. I then drilled a hole in the center and used a easyout and it broke off. What are my options ?

Gets too hot for JB. If it was me I'd find another manifold. The later manifolds takes bigger exhaust pipe so watch what year you get or you will be changing more than a manifold.

I WISH I broke the ear on the manifold, no I broke the ear on the head. And you can't call me any more of a dumba_s then I am.

Welding cast iron takes special rod and tecniques, so I would take it to a special welding shop unless you have the skills and equipment.

You could probably get away with using large diameter hardened washers and a bolt with a nut to clamp it on what remains of the ear.
If you take it to a machine shop have them oven braze it solid and re-drill and tap it. It will be much stronger than the cast iron. The Bronze that is used is nearly as hard as the cast and a lot more resistant to breaking.

+1! Mine broke at the front! Like "Moneymaker" said, except I used a stud with a nut. I just held the piece in place when I put the manifold on. The gasket will hold the piece in place, and on mine you barely see the crack! The only giveaway is the nut on top!:)

Moneymaker, Simpleman do you guys have or could take a couple of pic's for me and I could see what you have done ? Also went I took the manifold off there was no gasket so I was putting it back on with no gasket, should I use one now ? Thanks to all that have answered ! I know you guys weren't happy when this happened but I'm glad to hear of a fix ! After I did this I ruined a 1/4 bottle of Vodka just thinking about it.:rofl2: Rick

Well gentlemen here is my fix thanks to your ideas. I have a 5/16 hardened bolt in place of the 3/8, and with a little less torque I think I should be fine. I little blue paint and you would have to know what your looking at to tell it was broken. Any other thoughts besides a gasket ?
    Thanks Rick....:tiphat:
