Were courtesy (under dash) lights an option in our mav/comets My car doesn't have one but Raymonds new comet does
In 1974, is was called "Visibility Light Group", Includes Luggage compartment light, ash tray light, glove box light, engine compartment light, instrument panel courtesy lights, and dome/dual beam map light. A $29.00 option. In 73, it was part of the "Convenience Group", it was $19.00.
in '73 not all of those locations were included i dont believe. my '73 had the convience group but only had a trunk light. also ive noticed that the cars in '74 that had this option also had lights for the floorboards
? That's right for the Ford order books. I would think the lights under the dash, would be considered the instrument panel lights. Trunk lights could be added pretty easily..I'd like to see a underhood light, I don't think I've ever seen one.....
I just bought a NOS courtesy light (end of the dash...shines on your feet) on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280604398300&viewitem= I had all the pieces but THIS one. I got the rest off of a parts car. I now have the wiring, plugs, lights, etc.
If you're wanting to add the lights to your car, look for Lincoln Continentals and Town Cars in the junk yards. They always came from the factory with them and the higher optioned ones had extra lights too. They're not too hard to wire in. -Scott H.
