here's a response I got from a CL seller today. He has a Ford truck with a real Boss 302 out of an early Maverick. Just for laughs I asked if it was a real Boss with screw in freeze plugs and Cleveland style heads (btw..a friend of mine built this truck and sold it...it is a 5.0L roller). "the truck has a real 302 boss out of a seventy something model maverick..... i'm looking for a ford ext cab 4x4 for a work truck.... " He's wanting to trade this Maverick Boss 302 powered truck for a Ford 4X4 work truck.
It can be converted easily to a boss! All you need are those Boss 302 valve covers that fit on windsor heads
Man ...I cant believe someone parted out a FACTORY Boss Maverick just to put the engine in a truck. ..................
There actually was a six cylinder with a boss head. It was a 300 i believe that someone cut up two boss heads and welded them together. I saw it on fordsix once. Pretty cool stuff!
I went to high school with a guy who had a '72 F100 with the Boss 302/3 on the tree. It was the rarer Boss because it had the special 2bbl carb for gas mileage...
It was 67 geeze...... and they were 4 speed cars with 9 inch trac locs... only the yellow gobblers though.
