I found this picture in a Mustang magazine. I would like to have seen this show back in the day. Did anyone ever see this show with the Maverick jumping ramps?
The Milwaukee Mile - State Fair Park. Went to see it with the whole family. One guy made it all the way around the mile track, sideways like that on 2 wheels. To tell you the truth, I don't fully remember what cars were all there, other than they were Fords and AMCs (AMC was still made in Milwaukee at that time) 40 years ago or so ............... :bananaman
I can remember a couple of teams/drivers that were doing those stunts back in the day. One was a team from Uniroyal tire; drivers were nicknamed "Uni", "Roy" and Al and they'd perform at state fairs, tracks, exhibitions, etc. The other was (I think) and independent driver named Joie Chitwood who'd do the same stuff.
It looks to be from the show Cavalcade of Thrills: http://www.cavalcadeofthrills.com/history.html Here's a couple pics I saved a while back:
I'm constantly amazed at the amount of history we can dig up here. Fun, fun fun............... Here you go------hop into a time machine and learn all about suspension, steering, and the highest tech we thought was out there!!! You'll have to put up with it being Chevy.
In the Movie Touch of Satan there is a Brand new 71 Grabber with the Grill Emblem in the wrong place just like the Chitwood Grabber. Wonder if somebody on the assembly line screwed up that day???
