i am a less is more guy. i think that serpentine looks too cluttered under the hood. i am sure it is a great system, but it is too busy for me. also, is it possible to run one with manual steering? i sure don't want to run a dummy pulley where the pump would be.

Here's my set up.I like simplicity too but got tired of flinging belts off at 6000 rpm.Went with this setup off a 5.0 Mustang and never looked back only had to adjust belt once in 4 years.I also used the 3 pulleys off a 5.0 Crown vic on my 460 truck and had no troubles with it either.

Is your alternator your entire belt adjustment?

so, im sitting in my basement looking at ebay auctions, trying to find 5.0 serpentine pulleys for a reasonable price and it occurs to me that my father has a full set left over after doing an under-drive pulley swap on his mustang. i call him and he will ship them tomorrow. free. no cash. he will be glad to have them used! sweet.:bananaman

this is him and his car with the old motor. 351 going in as we speak.

Don't know if it helps, but the 351 used a 4-bolt harmonic balancer... just pulled one that was originally in an LTD, going in buddy's torino in spring after it's winter-overhaul and definately had the v-belt pulleys with a 4-bolt balancer... though it had three sections, (81 LTD Country Squire) and was rebuilt and fitted into a ford econoline van... had air pump for the old cat converter, power steering, alt, A/C and water pump, three grrove v-pulley... 4bolt for sure... does it help at all? :p

I used a buillit 3 pulley (the waterpump pulley had to be a double to line up with the alt.) set up from summit, very nice, easy install, 4 bolts, the only thing I have hooked up is my alt. Got a stock v belt for a alt only 302 for around 5 bucks from autozone.
