Got my electronic control box for my ign-dist. And i have seen so many different mounting locations on the forum, that i wanted to ask if there is a preference and why? i have even seen coils mounted on shock towers. is this just trying to be different or is there more to it?:16suspect Thanks Rick
I think one reason people mount them on the shock tower is to keep them away from engine heat. As for the control module i like it on the inner fender well away from heat if possible. But the best optimal place is probably inside the dash but its a bit cumbersome.
do you have a picture of yours? cant be by the battery, too much stuff there. cant be by the master cylinder.Drivers front has window washer fluid and pump.passenger rear has charcoal canister.
I removed the Charcoal canister and mounted it there. Drilled some 1/2" holes behind it for cooling air flow. Here's an old picture, mine is an MSD box but a Duraspark box would be easier to fit and maybe keep the charcoal canister if you need to. Easier to run wires to the distributor from here too.
my control module is a borg-warner. 5.5"X6.3/4" wont fit there. but i do want to keep it dry and cool, may have to go under dash. has anyone done a thread on that i wonder?
The only one I ever saw do that was rick. He sold the car to mike aka yellow75. PM him and see if he can take a pic for you.
