a universal replacement cat. will work. any muffler shop should be able to get you one and even install it. if you dont have emmisions testing then you really dont need it. the problem with cats. on a carbed car is that they carb can controle the fuel mixture correctly to allow the cat to work properly and live a long life.

i live in Portland oregon, so any vehicles '75 and newer MUST be emission tested... but if the carb can be adjusted i guess i will just test it first and see how bad it really is before i have any more questions. :) thanks!

I'm pretty sure since its post 75 your not going to pass an e-test without one, visual should fail you just for not having one.

But like stated above any exhaust shop can put a universal on there for prob a little less than 200.00. And if you have dyno roller testing its just best to find someone in area used to tuning carbed cars for emmisions, that around here costs about 50 or so.

this is what you will be subject to I think per my google search (I'm from AZ)

The Basic Emissions Test is a two-speed idle test that
analyzes emissions from the tailpipe for hydrocarbon and
carbon monoxide levels. The vehicle is placed in neutral
and idles for 30 seconds. After that, it is taken to 2500
revolutions per minute for 30 seconds, and then idles for
    another 30 seconds.

I would doubt being able to pass this without a tune, and a cat convertor. In my opinion
