Ya Ya Ya, I know the drill, start hanging the :bs: here, :yup::yup::yup:. ok now that you all know I come here with fork in hand ready for my serving of Crow, lets get to it. My wife has inhearited her 1973 Comet GT back, she was driving it when we were dating, (she was 17 then). any way I am about to start a resto on the ol girl, but I want to put an EFI power plant in her. the bugger was hell on points back in the day. I am thinking on picking up a retired Crown Vic Cruser with a 5.0 HO, rip the motor, trans, powertrain wiring and ECM for the lil bugger. problem is I do not know the first thing about a "cough" "cough".........F...Cough .... Ford... ow that hurt!!! electronics. I know the Gm EFI like the back of my hand, hey where did that wart come from :rofl2:. well any :bs:, er Help Ya that is it, I would apreciate any assistance on educatin an old gearhead out. let the games begin:rofl:

that plan is a good one. fords ecc III fuel injection (87-95) is really simple. i dont know about the crown vics. but the fox mustangs (87-93) wireing is mostly seperate from the rest of the cars wireing. there is an engine harness. it plugs in at the back side of the intake with two 10 pin connectors. then there is the harness that goes from the computer through the fire wall and out to the engine harness and a to a few other sensors and actuators. the dash harness plugs in close to the computer and you just want the connectors cut off the dash harness. those wires should goto the check engine light, fuel pump, ignition switch and speed sensor. if you can handle a gm efi swap you can handle a ford efi swap.
you will probly have to modify one of the shock tower braces to clear the back corner of the intake manifold.
you will want to use headers or stock manifolds specificaly for the comet, and put o2 sensors into the exhast pipe at the collector. you dont need to run the speed sensor but it does help a little with the fuel economy. a mass air system is more flexable to modifications than a speed denstiy system.

And to make it even easier you can ge a retro fit harness for that setup that is all labeled on what to hook to the car and is ready to plug into the sensors and EFI stuff. Check out this article on the swap, http://www.mustangevolution.com/articles/20075/ except you will do an AOD instead of a t5. the article is on a mustang but same applies to a Maverick

Welcome. You will find the answer to just about any Ford/Mav/Comet question you can come up with. Its a great board with more experience that can be put into words. We've got a guy for just about anything on here.

Dont worry about the Chevy thing. All project cars are great no matter who builds them. Its only the closed minded folk that condemn a car based on its make. Although I have to admit those Mopar guys are a bit different. LOL.

I have done the efi conversion on a 74 bronco using a lincoln mark vii motor and harness. If I was going to do it again i would buy the retro fit harness and save all the headache of unwrapping wires, tracing the diagram to see what I need to keep and what I dont and what to hook up where. Can change a week long project to a day of plug in and go. Well worth the $200 or whatever they are going for these days.

P.S. any one know where I can get a hood scoop, the fatherinlaw didn't want me to get it so he took it off and hid it, now that he has passed it is lost.......well forever in ...."THE ABIS"..... (15 acres of junk)

Not exactly sure where to get one, probably Autokrafters would be my first look. Or other Mercury restoration parts suppliers for Cyclones and other Mercs.

I would be looking around in the Abis, not only because the scoops are $200 or so but who knows what else he hid around there.
