Got the strut rod bushings put in over lunch hour at work today. Right side was starting to tear. I'm assuming they were original since they had a single sleeve peened over on both washers. Installed the Moog kit. Kudos to the manager Ray at Carquest. I call for bushings and he doesnt even ask me if I want cheap or Moog. Just orders me the good stuff. I guess he should know me and the car pretty well by now. $$$.
Anyhow got the car aligned on our nice new fancy Hunter rack.( what an impressive machine!!) A monkey could use this machine. Decided on 1.1 degrees of Caster. It worked really well. Car drives much better than (-) Caster. The positive Caster did make a difference in parking lot maneuvering but still easy to turn. I'm sure my wife can handle it even.
This car just gets better and better to drive. It goes dead straight down the road with very little wander. Steering seems to have more road feel. Not as floaty as before. Goes hand in hand with the Caster and bushings I guess.
Then I got to drive it home on a warm, Sunny, evening drive through the country.
All in all a great Maverick day. :thumbs2:

I'm not positive that this is what timers is saying, :hmmm: but it might be an abreviated way of saying that the tech they took the car to for the alignment is either an older person or a young one that was trained by an older one that knows their stuff and pulled the program cd out of the putor and went by manual dementions to set caster, camber and toe. Sometimes you come across these folks that know all the little tricks to make something good a whole lot better. Just what I got from reading his reply.

    Nope...that's not what he said...

I took mine to an...Old School Guy...he was impressed that everything was new. when he was done the car wouldn't steer at all. i took it to a shop with a young tech and a new alignment setup. he was impressed with the rack and pinion setup. He took the instructions that came with the...Rod and Custon frontend...set thoes #s on the machine and was done...:thumbs2:
I tried to give the instructions to the first Guy and he said..."you can't set these old cars with any #s, you just have to have a feel for them."

    ...:drive:...
