New member here living in Michigan. A long time ago I was lucky enough to have a father that was a car nut. As well as his regular job he had a small car lot and as a kid with a new license I was able to slap a dealer tag on anything on the lot and drive it until it was sold. This was back in the late 70s and a lot of the coveted muscle cars of today were regulars at the car lot. One of my favorites was a little red 71 Grabber. In the spirit of that little car and the fact that my son is in his last year of college I'd like to find a Maverick to play with, in particular a 70-72. One thing I don't want is one of the specialty models. No sprints, stallions, or grabbers. I want something to "tweak" with and something like a grabber would deserve to be returned to original. I would prefer something with no engine or transmission as well. Back in 78 a Mustang GT totaled vehicle came in to our lot and the 289 hipo (a real 4 bolt main 289) and 4 speed tranny was pulled from the car. To this day it has followed me around and I still have it sitting in my garage. So if I could find a Maverick to put this into it would just make my day. Thanks.....Ben
Here's one for you in Dearborn: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=66057 Email him, and see if he still has it.
I would not limit yourself to the 70-72. I like the 75-77 because they have disc brakes and electronic ignition. Yea, I know the bumpers are....well...to be polite to those that like them, nonappealing, they are easily converted to the small bumpers.
You are also in luck. The Maverick Comet Club International, Inc. (MCCI) will be holding their 18th Annual Roundup Nationals in Dearborn, Michigan next July 20-24. You will see lots and lots of Mavericks and Comets. You will have to plan and attend. More details can be found soon at www.MaverickCometClub.org
