yes maverick manic is right while you have the motor out rebuild the whole thing then youll have a fresh motor

i had my motor out to paint my engine bay while i was rebuilding the complete front end this winter and all i did was pull the heads and the oil pan and give it all new gaskets and intake manifold and now 4000 miles down the road( 69000 total on the engine) and its starting to smoke when i first start it in the morning. wish i would of just rebuilt it when i had it out

Yep, with 78000 miles on the engine you should at least inspect the bearing and crank for wear - if you have them out it is just as easy (if the crank is nice) to fit new bearings.
For myself, I would change bearings if I tore an engine down just 5000 miles after a complete rebuild. The way I look at it is that if you have a reason to tear it down you might as well freshen it up.
I do that with every transmission I freshen up - they get new bushings and thrust washers along with new seals throughout and new frictions and steels.
