Last winter my front windsheild gasket finally went kaput! I finally found a shop willing to replace just the gasket so I had it done. However I am still have some minor leakage from some of the corners and along the bottom. I have not taken it back to the shop (it's under warentee still) yet but I soon will. I was wondering if anyone had a problem with this and if so what did you do to remedy the problem? Desperately have to get this fixed before the rainy season begins. Thanks

Jeri; I had the same problem with my windshield. I installed my windshield with a new gasket, and it leaked like a sieve. I took it to a glass shop, and it took about 3 sessions with a power pump sealer, and now it is fine. They charged me about $45, for the entire thing, and it was worth every penny. Good luck, I know how frustrating this can be.

    Earl,
If I go to the shop and ask them to use the power pump sealer will they know what I am talking about? My windsheild is original, might this be the problem? By the way I checked for the cowl problem and as far as I can see it's not leaking from there.

When the shop installed the windshield gasket, did they apply any urathane sealer to it? It's a sticky black sealer used to seal the gasket to the windshield opening to prevent water leaks. If they did use it and they skimped a little around the corners, ihe windshield could still leak.

Jeri; they should know what you are talking about, and should be happy to make you happy. I am glad to hear that the cowls are good on your car, and that you may not be making that big leap. That is the only repair on these cars that scares me. Good luck, and let us know how you made out with the windshield.

Does anyone know how to get the sealer off of a vinal top? My "glass guy" got some on the A pilers, and even though the top is black I can still see spots of sealer on it. It was done about 3 years ago. Thanks Russ

We usually use Prep-Sol to remove the urethane sealer, but if you have any WD-40, spray some on the spots and let it soak in for a while. It should losen the sealer up so you can wipe it off.
