I have a 71 Grabber with a 302 and a 5 speed which had disc brakes on it when I bought it. The drivers side sticks and the brakes drag. I have fixed it a dozen times but the problem returns. They look like they don't belong on the car. The piston in the caliper only covers half of the pad. I have no idea who put them on or from which car. My question is will the standard disc brakes which came on the 74 Maverick bolt up to the 71?

Thanks for any help you can give in solving my brake problems.

Welcome aboard! Nice car too. Disc brakes from a Granada or Monarch are the same also just in case you know where one of those are.

Just wanted to add that when swapping from drum to disc, outer tie rod ends that match the spindle are needed. Since yours are already modded somehow, you may already have the right ones. It would be something to look at if you decide to change things.

What have you done to fix the problem? If it is just replacing pads or even the caliper then I would look at the brake hose. Sometimes the inside of the hose will come apart and not let the fluid return to the master cyl. Happens all the time on trucks and mini vans.
