Yes bumper slide is on the list. The list is now cheap or free things I can do to improve the car.

So the future update list is coming along like this
    change airbrush to Block letters
    rewire engine bay
Change out tweed covered kickpanels for factory black kickpanels (added that idea myself)
Cover console in black vinyl or something besides tweed
    finish painting headlight buckets
    Bumper Slide
    T5 swap

I think these small changes will really make a difference. Thaks for the ideas, compliments and criticism.

Ga GRabber, post up those pics. this is one of the easiest boards to post pics on, you dont't need them hosted elsehwere. just click on the image icon and browse your files.

Mojo, wheels won't be changed for quite a while. Some guys have 18s and they can fit with the right tire.

    Ryan,
That is one of my Mavericks you posted the picture of (orange and white). Or should I say it is my son's car now. It is sitting in the garage in the middle of being completely restored close to original. We have a new 302 built for it, it has a nine inch rear with 3:55 posi unit and will be an overdrive trans. We just finished stripping the whole under carriage to the bare metal and replacing any parts that had any rust(battery tray and front apron on drivers side). the engine bay has been completely repainted along with the under carriage and frame rails. It also has 4 wheel disk brakes with slotted and drilled rotors. We have done the small bumper swap on the front and put a complete new suspension under it front and rear. All we need to do to it now is have the OD tranny rebuilt and sit the motor and tranny in. The interoir is the factory bucket seat/auto in the floor with air and it is all orange. Once we sit the motor and rranny in she will then ready for her maiden vouyage with my 17 year old son.
I do not think he would want to trade now though. All though we do take it as a compliment and a good offer because your car looks great, but we have put to much work into this car to let it go now. Thanks for the offer though.
I am not sure if you remember me, I bought your old 351W heads from you when you did the 347 stroker change in your car. I still have them but have not used them They are but still sitting in the garage. When we finish his we will bring mine in and start on it. Just waiting my time in line for mine.
Sorry for rambling on about my cars, I wish you luck with yours and hope you can regain your interest in it. Yours is truly one of the nicer cars on the forum. Keep us abreaast at what you do with it as far as changes. I hope you dont sell it though. Once it is gone you will wish you had it back, I do promise you that. Again good luck with your car!

The cool thing about a car is, money is the only limiting factor as to what you can do with it. If you get bored with it, tear it back apart and do it again.

Hey Allen, I remembered your name was familiar but not sure why. That already nice 73 is going to be even awesomer when its done, Didn't read that you had to repaint the exterior. I take that was in good shape. Personal preference but I wold keep the 73 bumper. But, do you still have the cut bumper mounts? Want to sell them if shipping isn't too crazy?

I'm definitely not talking about selling the car, just offered up a trade in fun. The car is part of me, could never sell it, just bored with it for now. If nothing else I will do the small stuff on my list and it will continue to sit until money comes along to do other stuff. it's registered and insured so I still drive it but maybe once a month.

If I get really bored with it I will just store it for 15.5 years until my son can restore it and be his first car too.

A set of new wheels can make a major change with out all the work. Just hard to make up your mind which ones. I like the ansen sprints to keep with the old school look. With all the reply you have gotten you should know you have a great looking car. I hope to make it to one of the meets and see it one day. Hang in there.:D

Ah what the hell go for it. Make some changes. Tuck bumper, lose the Grabber fancy scroll, paint tail panel lower color, that would be my first 3 jobs. Then I would look at some different wheels. I find with my current car I'm really enjoying the factory/sleeper kind of thing for now. I may get bored and change it down the road though. I'm close to changing my stripe already and its only been a year. Maybe the factory 70 side stripes so long as it doesnt say Grabber. Dont have a Grabber hood or spoiler on it and dont plan on it.
So see your not the only one second guessing choices made. Thats whats great about having a car like ours. IF you get bored make changes. Doesnt have to be big dollar changes to freshen it up.

AS far as the rest of the cars out there. No matter what you do you'll always find a car you think is done nicer or has a better look. Maybe that guy prefers your car over his?? Thats part of the fun. Steal his ideas and apply them to your car.:D:thumbs2:

    Ryan,

The bumper slide was done by the prevoius owner of the car. All he did was take teh bumper brackets loose , slide them back then welded them to the frame. I am sorry to say I destroyed them when I was cutting them loose from the frame. I did not want to cut the frame when I was trying to get them off so I ended up cutting the brackets all to pieces.
We are not going to repaint the whole car just yet, it looks presentable the way it is for now. If my son wants it repainted it will come out of his pocket. I have funded the whole project to date, that will be his responsibility to do.
Good luck with yours and hopefully your son will have a sweet car when he turns 16!!

    Thanks
    Allen Samll

Ryan, I think your car looks great. Its cars like yours that set the bar high. The inside is awesome! A total package. I'm a ways out from getting mine to that stage. (az economy crunch) But when I do, I be asking the guys with cars like yours for info. I like Rays and MAVs cars alot too:bowdown:Can't leave out Pinky either! As for me, looks like I have along way to go before I can even think about being bored. Good luck on what ever you come up with for future plans. (go show it off, and show the chevy guys up):D

Pong, check out the thread in the Other Maverick Clubs and Events section. We have an AZ. maverick and comet thread going about setting up an eventual meet. trying to keep track of who all is in the area.

Didn't get anything done on th car this weekend as my wife and kid just got back from vacation. I will start some of the little projects next weekend While I wait for my AOD to sell so I can do the 5 speed swap.

Thanks again guys for the compliments and ideas.
