My correct clips finally came in (50 for $7 at the local auto supply shop) and the windshield trim is installed. It was a bitter battle with patience in one corner and chipped pain in the other. Except for a minor touchup needed in one corner the car came through unscathed ... :)

I always mask off the area with masking tape. Helps to prevent chips.

Well .. I jinxed myself .. while literally putting the LAST piece of the car together (besides the exhaust) I scratched it good. I tried for 30 minutes to get the vertical chrome on the back window passenger side to clip in and it just would not go. I was trying to slide it with the palm of my hand to get it flush with the body and it popped out and put two 4 inch long scratches in the roof at the top corner of the rear window opening.  I was thoroughly depressed. Should be a simple fix for my paint guy but I am still bumming ....

LOL .. .. yeah .. Ever since I got the car back from the painter I must have told my 4 year old son a thousand times be careful around the car, don't scratch the car. I went in to day and told him guess what? Daddy scratched the car! :)

I know what you mean about the kids-my 8 yr old and his 7 yr old cousin always want to play around the car it seems! I never used to be paranoid until it was painted.

Yeah.. i recently had my mav painted as well. 100bucks a quart for the paint. So I get real nervous around the car. But just have to remember its just paint. My sisters kid is 3 and allways wants to help me work on the car and I get really nervous too. Its like the feeling you get from finger nails on a chalk board only they don't have to even scratch it for me to to get that feeling just walk near it haha.

Funny how a new paint job can make the most stable persons paranoid. We call it " Fresh Paint Paranoia ". The thing is, with the prices a good quailty paint job go for now a days, the feeling is warrented. We had one customer come back to us pratically in tears because there were spots all over the top of his car and he couldn't figure out how they got there. Turns out the spots were tree sap from parking under a maple tree. A little wipe with a wet towel and they were gone.:) Crisis averted.

Jean im so sorry. my paint is no longer perfect and some of it is my fault some is nature's and some is my idiot freinds fault.
#1. Way home from carlisle - a truck kicked up a huge rock and it clipped the side of my pass. headlight ring and chipped some paint offa the fender (it musta been funny seeing me on the side of the pa pike stomping and yelling)
#2. My idiot freind leaned on it with a stud belt ( not real bad but i know its there)
#3. theres this black stuff behind my wheel and i have no idea where it came from...

Go to you local AutoPaint store and have them pull out a catalog. I threw away the box so don't have the brand or part-number. The correct clip will show a Ford part# starting with D0DZ (pretty sure) and say 69 and up Ford. They were even yellow just like the originals.

Battery tray is from AutoKrafters and I welded a rust-free brace on from an original Maverick tray.

Most of the engine and electrical stuff is from Mustangs Unlimited. They are local so whenever I needed something I could take a ride to their showroom ...
