ive notice the past week in driving before and after my rear brakes went out and now since ive had them fixed and driving for the past week that shes starting to wander around a bit slowly more and more

i was thinking it might be just the resuspension being almost 40 years old and i have a complete new front end but tonight i noticed that i have about 2 inches of play on either side of center. so i looked up and tightened the adjustment screw on the top of steering box and at park it seems to taken up the slack

im going to wait till the morning to go out and drive to see if that helped it at all but is there anything else that you think might be the reason for it?? thanks

It is very important to adjust the sector shaft with the Pitman removed to get the correct adjustment. Also when the sector shaft is adjusted you must adjust the Steering shaft Bearing to get the correct preload or you will end up damaging the steering box.

    i have manual steering

i dont know how to set the preload i only had to turn the top screw about a full turn and it seems to of fixed it. also i think the rear suspension being so old and the front being new has a big effect on it. am i right to think that??
