Hello MavFan´s, big hellows to everyone, im a new in this forum and i want to say hello to all fan to this EPIC car, im 28 years old and im from a city in mexico called san luis potosi, not a big one city but a quiet one yes.

well here is the thing, i want to buy a maverick 71 graber, here in mexico, ford co. produces that car for national an international market so its not so hard to get one, but before i buy it, i want to take some advices from you the experts on the theme.

i want to make a list or "checkup" of the better condition of one maverick of that age, i mean like, "the bodywork cold have a little corrosion on this parts, BUT in those parts its important that no have any corrosion ; __________________ , ______________________, ________________" this for the treatment of sandblast who i want to give to my mav.

question like that my friends, those advice believe me are so helpfully for one rookie like me !!

    greetings and thanks

    Pablo Rodriguez

    Hola,

The most important place to look for rot is the cowl area ... pour water into the slats in front of the windshield ... if it leaks into the interior from either side under the dash, you have a problem. It really takes a lot of disassembly to fix. Also, look at the torque boxes ( the area in the floor in front of where the floor angles up to the firewall). Those can be hard to fix. Most other areas are fairly easy to fix.

I would imagine a lot of Mexican cars are pretty solid if you are from a desert area. If you are more tropical, you may have to look at the car closer.

Yes, definitely check the cowl area. Also look underneath for any frame or floorboard rust. Welcome to the board.:Welcome:
