What octane are you running in your car - (non racing). We will probably be buying a '76 (200 ci) tomorrow so I am going to assume it will have a catalytic converter and need UL gas, but what octane do you recommend.

Its not an issue on a low compression factory engine. Whatever you would like to run. Our high octane fuels up here are better refined and claim to run cleaner than regular unleaded. The premium fuels claim all kinds of additives and cleaners. I have customers that run all kinds of fuel and it doesnt seem to make any difference as long as its a high flow, newer location with good tanks.

Too high of an octane for your car will actually rob you of a bit of power. Octane is only good if its necessary to slow the burn a bit typically in higher compression engines that get tuned for max output.

Thanks. I just remembered my dad telling me to run a tank of premium in my 72 Scamp - 318ci every month or so. He said it had something to do with my car being an older car. Never understood why. Just did as I was told.

Run whatever grade that doesn't ping under load. I usually run mid grade in everything but the Maverick. I only run premium in it due to the high perf build of the motor.
