When I'm driving down the highway, at about 55 my back left tire wobbles. I haven't seen it do it but my friend that was behind me told me it was wobbling. I didn't feel it wobble but what could be causing that? And how could I fix it?
Maybe needs balancing, or maybe loose lugs. As a worse case, could be a bad belt in the tire. Check that out before you use the car again.
I have seen a lot of bent axles on the right side due to wheel hop. It doesn't take much to bend one believe it or not. May just be a bent wheel though. Hope its cheep whatever it is.
usually thats a bent axle. swap the rear wheels from side to side. if the wobble switches side, its the wheel if the wobble stays on the same side then its the axle.
Sometimes tires have a crease in the sidewall due to how they are made, and that can look like a wobble. Focus on the wheel and be sure that is what is moving around.
Also sometimes the dirt on a tire will make it look like the tire is wobbling. I would think you would feel it myself. clint
Can't say I have ever been in a car with a bent axle. I did think it would be felt though. Just trying to help. Jack up the car and put it in neutral. Take something and rig up a dial indicator or just something like a pencil clamped to a board that just touches the side wall of the tire. Turn the tire and see what happens. If that doesn't show anything put the pencil on the tread part of the tire and try it again to see what happens. clint
