Ford brought a lot of cars into the US from their Canadian plant. I had a '79 LTD from Canada back when. There was no diference in the cars regardless of which plant they came from. My Stallion was built in Kansas City and you'll find no difference in any nut, bolt, etc. between our cars due to where it was built.

Actually the window regulators were different. I know door glass from a Canadian 2-door will not work in a US 2-door ...

katie- if you are lucky, and look under the front seat on the driver side between the padding and the springs, you'll find a VERY BRITTLE build sheet! it was taped onto the car as it went down the assembly line. if it is there, have dad help you remove the front seat so you can get the build sheet out without ripping it. it was a paper telling the guys on the line what to put in your car... a radio? which radio? which tires? really neat thing to have. i took out mine and laminated it! mine still has the masking tape they used to hold it on the car.

The axle code 3 means you have a 2.79 rear end. 6 would mean 3.00

The 'X' on your vin number after the '2', is the assembly plant code.. and 'X' means St. Thomas, Ontario. So it was put together in Canada. Mine is from there too.
