Need ball joint help!

    How do i remove my lower ball joints?

    You mean the riveted ones ? Get an air chisel, thats what I did on my Mustang. It poped them right off:thumbs2:

    They are either pressed, or welded to the lower control arm. Usually it's replaced as a complete unit.

    they look riveted. duno why ford would rivet them in but anyway. i plan to bolt the new ones in once i get the old ones out

    That's the way GM did it on the uppers, with rivits. Usually the replacement comes with bolts for installation.

    The lower arms are "just along for the ride", they don't have much of a load on them as the car is supported on the uppers. When the lower ball joint finally does go bad the bushing usually isn't too far behind so the whole assembly should be replaced.

    16 rivets are a lot cheaper than 16 nuts, bolts and lock washers. Take than number and multiply by millions and you can figure out how much the auto makes save a year on mounting ball joints to a control arm.

    i give up, damaged one of my control arms tryn to get tha balljoint off. gonna just order tha whole unit for both sides

    nah i managed to chizle a hole through it lol. used hand chizle my dads air hammers dont work.
