Snagged these on eBay ...figured what the heck for $50 .... Are they a worthwhile install? From what I have found out it replaces the entire plate that the rear shocks and u-bolts attach too .... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&rd=1&item=7911232543&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT
I'd say 'yes' to the question 'are they worth the install'. That is of course if you're having traction problems (especially wheel hop). mho
they are not very good. probably not worth the time to put them on. however, i'll take them off your hands if you want to dump them. (ha-ha). actually i've heard some very good things about the ssm bars. sounds like you got a good deal.
Cool .... I'm curious what the retail price was and how long the company has been out of business ...
Word on the street is, a dude in a freshly restored maverick,, a really really sweet one installed them and the car disintegrated in his driveway. Scientist studied it for years. John Edwards attorney for the plaintiff sued ssm for 8.6 bazillion dollars and won. I advise you not to install and forward the defective product to me for immediate technical analysis. I have a set that will be going on my car soon . :bananaman Ivy Collins has them on that wheelstanding 10 second Maverick of his......Yep they work!
i have about 4yr old ramcharger catalog. they list p1329 (70-77 maverick/comet) ssm lift bars for $122.95. i didn't know they went out of business but i don't see them in either the new jegs or summit catalogs. there adress was po# 617, smithville, ohio, 44677.
Trust Me! As a former owner of a nice set of SSM bars for a Maverick/Comet, first the price was great! Second I've gained no improvement from the SSM bars to the caltrac's bars You will find your ride to be much harder but you will love the traction! Terry
