I have standard shocks on the rear of my car. Plenty of room for big tires as long as you use the correct size tire and wheel.
Wow, they fixed yours with bolts! What's left of mine was held together with sheet metal screws. The shackle is at the rear of the springs. They are the two plates (per side) that swing and alllow the spring to flex.
man id like to see pics of those shocks. i was thinking of leaving the shocks alone and going with the inverse wood leaf springs. i hear that you just have keep them watered or the spring rate will alter too much during your launch.
I did the van leaf swap. Not too much work, once you get the springs freed from the donor van. Can't tell you how it rides yet though.
