For those of you that are late for the show, 1970 tanks are a unique year because they are a drop in like early Mustangs. A Mustang tank can be installed with quite a bit of fab work. But one thing I am wondering, does anyone know if the early Falcon tanks are a better fit? As in less cutting. They are readily available at a good price. Looks like it would be a better fit if the pics are right that I see. If the dimensions are correct that I saw posted in another forum...they are the same width but the Maverick one is shorter.
The Falcon sending units are available....not sure if the Mustang sending unit fits the Falcon tank though.
Does anybody know for sure if the Mustang sending units will fit the 70 Maverick gas tanks? I read some threads but didn't find a final answer. I currently have my 70 tank at a shop to be cleaned.....but they aren't sure they can do much with it....so I'm thinking about plan B!
The Maverick sending unit is in the side of the tank. The Mustang in the front center. I believe the pick-up would be configured differently inside.
all this talk about gettin tanks from other cars to fit makes my wonder why i cant seem to sell the perfectly good one i have
The deal with this mod is that it not only gives you a more attainable replacement part, it's more centered, it's larger, gives more space for larger exhaust and the sending unit is relocated. At least that's what I get from the idea.
