man thats a awesome pic........whoever took the shoot should be applauded.
That is freakin' amazing. Glad you did not hurt to much on the landing. It is amazing what skill and knowledge can accomplish these days.......I know that is NOT what you want from your car..........but it sure makes for a hell of a show and a nice conversation piece.

makes my little 12 inch footbrake wheelers look sad!

    Thanks for sharing (y)

Tell you what, I think those pics are magazine worthy, at first I questioned it, thinking it was some sort of trick photography, since you could see daylight under the rear tire.

Just Incredible!!! I can't wait to show it to a freind of mine who has been a race fan for 20+ years! He likes Mavericks as well.

    Wow!!! (y) (y) (y) (y)

Just curious what kind of comments did people make to you when you got out of the car?

There's literally no body damage !

That's the thing that amazed me the most when I saw the photo !

There's just a little scrape at the seem on the corner where the inner trunk and quarter are welded on the edge

the rear valance was scaped on the edge about 1/4" for a distance about the lenght of the licence plate

You can see in the photo this edge rubbing on the track surface and the valance was pushed in

When I got back to the pits all I saw was a bent Licence plate , the valance sprung back !!!!

A crowd of people came over to see the car and said it was the wildest wheel stand they'd ever seen

My wife later laughed because she said for the rest of the evening people where stopping to have thier picture taken beside the car like it was some kind of Monument or Statue of significant importance

I feel very lucky to come out of this with almost no damage

I love dragracing and the competiton it brings , and if the car had been just another late model mustang , I would have fixed the headers and got right back out there again

    But I love my Maverick !!!! :)

Wow, those are amazing pictures! Can wind play a role in how high you lift the car? I think I would have crapped my pants if my car lifted so high!

    Len-
That was something. It tells the story of how well you have the
car hooking up. That tricked out suspension system is really working
for you. I would like to see more pics of that.
So what are you going to do to keep the front end down? We know it
looks cool but headlights pointing at the sky does nothing for your E.T.
Are you allowed to shift any weight to the front in your class.
A friend of mine had that problem in a CJ428 Mustang and he
started running less tire to solve the problem. It would spin a little
but that kept it from getting up in the air and helped his elapsed
time and trap speed although it hurt his 60' times.

What Am I going to do ?

Well , wheel spin is definatly something I don't want resort to

I plan to replace the 2.40 gearset with a 2.18

This change should keep the front end from comming up as high and allow the car to carry the wheels out further in 1st gear

The front suspension is already set up with a very limited travel , so I will dampen the extension rate to further limit the weight transfer as necessary to control the wheel stand

I'm determined not too touch the rear suspension as I feel according to the previously posted vidieo its doing exactly what it's supposed to do :)

    Matt ...

I did not get the copyright message on my Macintosh at home - I just dragged it to my desktop and saved a copy. However, at work on my Windoze PC I did get the message. I just selected the picture and did a copy and then I pasted it into MS Word .. When I tried to drag the picture from MS word to my Desktop it asked if I wanted to save a copy of the image ... I said yes and then used that image file for my desktop ....
