if your on a low budget a c4 is gonna be alot cheaper.... You could rebuild the c4 and be done.. Or you can buy all the manual conversion parts(around $400) the transmission and other parts. And still the transmission aint gonna be new so it would be good to rebuild it to... So c4 is gonna cost a fraction of the manual. IMO

I haven't done a t-5 swap in my Maverick yet. When I did it to my 68 Cougar it was around $3000. However, I bought everything new except the bellhousing and spacer plate. The rest included the trans., pedal, cable clutch setup, crossmember, shifter, ball and boot, pedal pads and ring, and shortening the driveshaft. Then my exhaust didn't fit anymore so I had to redo that. I'm probably forgetting something. The new trans. was about 1300. Very pricey, but easily the best mod. I ever did on the car. Totally changed it's attitude. It was a snap with the cougar though. Everything was available through the mustang catalog-no fabbing whatsoever. Apparently not so easy with the Maverick.

I think I spent close to 2K doing my T5 swap. And that's with a good friend doing a lot of the work and not charging me for all the advice time, shop time and all that. I went hydraulic and it came out AWESOME. The clutch pedal with master cylinder, the reservoir and slave cylinder I got for a great deal. Bryant did a lot of custom work on brackets and crossmember which he didn't charge me for. With all that I think it would have been easy close to $3000. But others on this board have done T5 swaps for less than $500 by doing a lot of work themselves, going junkyard diving etc.

IMHO you would be very happy with a C4 rebuild and you'll save a lot of money.

    i did the t5 swap

rebuilt WC-t5 with hurst shifter and only 10.000 miles $500 from a shop that had put it in a 60's mustang but the owner didn't like or something

12 pound aluminum flywheel stage 3 clutch hd pressure plate throw out bearing pilot shat bearing ALL you need between the engine and trans for $480 on ebay made by (center force) for a 5.0 mustang with t5 trans // my friend bought a a stage 1 or 2 center force clutch frome a store near by an it was like 150-200 bucks

150 for cluch pedals on ebay

clutch slave cylinder CNC like $60

    clutch master cylinder like $120

i did it for around 1500 but i could have done it way cheaper

if you love to drive a stick shift car then i say go for it i love mine

i had my first mav for about 4-5 months and hated the auto trans and i had a B&M shiftkit in it so i swaped it out

if its to rich for you blood look into a AOD trans swap:clap:

i did a little searching on aod trans and looks like its still alittle pricey. but that i could get my trans rebuilt for around 400-800 dollars and and put in a full manual valve body. so i have total control over the shifts for about another 300 and a shifter for another 150-250 so i think i might do that if anyone has done this can you let me know if this seems about right?

Modifying the C4 for performance is not difficult or expensive.
Before you spend money look into Broader Performance, Jay has an excellent C4 for around $850 that is rated to take 500 hp and I know it will take more than that. I know of no other C4 built as well or as solidly and he can build it with a full manual valve body in forward or reverse pattern. No other builder has the quality that his transmissions have (except maybe mine). If I didn't build C4s myself I would buy his.
