Wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to clean the inside of the trunk before painting. Just get a sander out and get to work? How have you stripped your trunk?

I'm thinking about using 80 grit and rinsing it out then use Rino liner. I guess it depends on how you want it to look. I need mine to be water proof for the small window unit that will be draining into the trunk lol.

Thanks for the tips on the sanding.

Was thinking about using trunk splatter paint for something along these lines

I've been kicking around the idea of using duplicolor bed liner for durabilty, with splatter paint on top for that clean factory look. In the end though I'll probably just make a floor and panels.

You might want to try the paint stripper discs from 3M. They are used in an angle grinder. The whole line of products is called Sandblaster. These made pretty quick work on my floorpans.

After preparing the metal, I use a spray rust inhibitor by Duplicator called "Rust Fix" which turns the metal into a black primer. Then, depending on the car, I use the truck bed sealer, and finally the splatter paint. Looks great when it is finished and sealed for rust down the road. I did this to several of the cars, including the Sprint Maverick and red Comet GT. I used Rust Bullet on the gold Comet GT.
