Excuse the noob question, but what's the best place for the battery ground... fender?

It looks like the alt ground is on the engine block, should the neg battery cable go here as well?

    Thanks

Battery should be grounded to the engine block. Another ground from the engine to the firewall...you can never have too many grounds.

I agree. Ground to the block. There should be a bolt hole on the passenger side of the block for this. :)

Agreed. Ground it all to heck. I have all of the above on my F100 plus a ground from the back of each head to the firewall. Read somewhere years ago that grounding the heads helps the plugs fire. Don't know if it helps but does not hurt

You need the negative battery cable to go to the engine block because the starter will draw 200 amps. The rest of the car can be grounded to the engine through ground straps from the engine to the firewall and frame. because lights and horns draw a lot less than 100 amps.

I have a...ground strap...from my bottom starter bolt to the frame...:yup:

1-from batt. neg. to rad. support.
    1-from each head to firewall.
    1-neg. batt. cable to block.

all taillight sockets have a ground wire (each) to trunk pan.

    ...you can't have too many...

    Frank...:thumbs2:

    Thanks guys.

I figured that the battery ground went to the engine block (same bolt that threads the cable to the starter).

One last wiring question and then my wiring is complete; what's best place for alternator ground?

Ground it to the voltage regulator mounting screw.

I have a couple ground wires just drilled and tapped into the frame rail. So don't think you have to use an existing bolt. Make some new ones if that is the best way to keep the wire short and out of the way.
