installed my new edelbrock today and it runs amazing now primed the carb and then started right up idled in the choke and then reved it dropped out of choke and idles at 1000 solid put it in drive and dropped it 800. shut it off and then it started right up before it was having problems restarted after it was warmed and idling. took it for a drive and was amazing no choking out at stops now just amazing what a new carb has done cant wait to drive it to school tomorrow :)
thanks to every one who has helped me since ive bought the car hopefully nothing else will go wrong just little stuff now like body work thanks again

Good job man! the 1406 has the electric choke so that should be trouble free!

Did it have the kickdown bracket? Back when i bought a new one they didn't and i had to buy the kit .

I loved my 1406. It just ran lean on me most of the time, and got worse with every head/cam swap I did. Finally, I had it jetted as rich as I could, and still lean, so I bumped up to a double pumper.

But I have NO REGRETS whatsoever buying the 1406. Got me a couple years of growth and lots of fun, and easy to tune.

yea it didn't have a kick down kit for the trans but it was never hooked up when i bought it i think it is bent because i tried to hook it up to my old carb and it never fit.

haha yea i know started on a fender that i got from a parts car and been working on it for 2 days off and on with a hammer and dolly and slowly getting it better less bondo the better

i had a holley 0-80453 that the guy who i bought the car from put on there he messed up the floats and needles had it "rebuilt" but i could never get it to idle since i bought it. so i just decided to get a new carb and looks like it fixed all my issues
