Hello all, I have been lurking on this site for quite awhile now and I am finally ready to take the plunge. I am going to look at a 71 Comet...totally stock 3speed I6...tomorrow morning and if all goes well I will truly be a member of your forum lol. I was wondering what I should be looking for in terms of rust and where to look for it on these cars as being from the Great White North that will definatley be an issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and hopefully my next post will be pics of my new toy.
from Northeast Pennsylvania Torque boxes, floors and cowls are some of the biggest problems that these cars have. Torque boxes and floors you can see but most of the time cowl rot through you can't see. Pour a gallon or 2 of water down the vents in front of the windshield and see if it runs out under the dashboard on to the carpets. If so, there are cowl problems and possibly the front floor boards are rusted through because of the cowls leaking. You can get more info by searching this forum.
