I did a search and read thru a few threads...just wondering if I could get some info. from people who have actually done it. I have a 70 Maverick that I have been running adapters on for years and I'm wanting to switch the frt to a factory 5 lug set up. I have a 68 Mustang parts car I had planned on taking parts off of and a set of 73 Maverick 5 lug drums, but looking at brake parts they all split if weird year break points. I thought I read here that all I had to do was get most any 5 lug backing plates and drums. Then I read (if I read it right) that only 70 Mustang backing plates work.

My car is a 6 cylinder car and I'm not interested in doing a disc brake swap. Any input?

check the balljoint holes and the bearing mount surfaces. IRC they should be the same as 70 mav? By the way, even with a 6 the front disc conversion is easy and well worth the work. especially since it sounds like you plan to drive it a lot.

I know the Mustang guys use the Granada spindles and disc brakes, so a little backward thinking...the Mustang spindles and brakes should work. The thing to look for will be the tie rod end taper may be different, but you might be able to use the Mustang tie rods. Not that big of a job to try it on one side, if it doesn't work, you just put the old stuff back on....

Based on what I've read I've just ordered some 70 Mustang backing plates. So with those and my 73 Maverick 5 lug drums...that should get my frt brakes converted to 5 lug like they should be.
