Anyone using an aftermarket balancer? My engine rebuild guy bought one for my 302 and installed it, BUT, when I try and bolt the pulley to it, it is about 3/4 inch too shallow. This one is flat across the front, where the original balancer has a built in spacer to mount the pulley to. Is there a supplier for the stock harmonic balancer?
If your lookng for stock, napa has them for 80 bucks. Eather that or you can pm me and just pay for shipping. (junkyard would have plenty.)
there a spacer that ford racing has that works for your problem. i have one laying around pm me if you want it.
I bought a Professional Products brand balancer. And just because you buy the balancer, don't think all is done. There were 4 different spacers that were available to make it fit the various setups of engines. So, it is likely that a spacer is all you need.
Just watch the timing marks, Ford used 3 different sets, most aftermarket balancers only come marked with 2 of the 3, and of course, the Maverick engines, had the timing pointer in the location, to use with the 3rd set of numbers.
