Haven't been to the local Pull and Save in awhile, so got up and went this morning, mainly just looking for some leaf springs from an E-150 van since I'm getting ready to redo my rear. Lucked out big time. Found a van in the first row that looked perfect, but the measurements were off so kept looking, and saw this-:bananaman:bananaman:bananaman

I've never seen a bobcat in person, I've been looking for bobcat taillights since I had my first Maverick. One has a busted lens, but I have a few Maverick lenses I can fix it with, the Bezels are in really good shape. I'll probably clean them up and sell them though, as I just bought a set of '67 Caprice lights. I don't know, maybe I'll hold onto them. Then I found this poor guy-[IMG]
Pretty nice looking 4 door, that got smashed hard. Really hard. It was decently restored, new paint, redone interior. I got excited because I saw it had bucket seats, but they were from some other car. Went around to the back to find a valance with only minor damage (pushed in, slightly creased for about 3"). Then it dawned on me that if there were buckets they had to be attached in some way , so I looked at them expecting wooden blocks or something and somebody had actually fabricated custom risers. Not the prettiest welds, but it was in a heinous collision, and they held up so I trust them. This is excellent since I have a pair of bucket seats I want to put in, and should save me a huge amount of work fabricating.

Also pulled some decent armrest bases to replace my broken ones. Not much else usable on the car, even the dash and steering wheel were bent in the collision.

After that I continued my search for a van and found a 1985 E-150.

Got happy, then looked at the back and didn't see an axle, got sad, then realized that somebody pulled the axle and left the springs and I got real happy. Eight fewer seized bolts for me to remove. :yahoo:

Spent forever trying to remove the springs, broke a cheap ratchet and exhausted myself :banghead: I then realized that I have no intention of using the van mainspring, so I busted off the clamps and with the help of some PB Break free and a tire Iron used as an improvised breaker bar got the stack separated from the mainspring.

All in all, pretty good day, but with all the time it took me to get the springs off I didn't get a chance to check out the whole yard, so I'll have to make another trip sometime soon :D

Yeah, the door panels were in nice shape, but I've got no need for 4dr door panels. If its still there next time I go back I may pull those too and hold onto them till someone needs them. Found three Granadas too, but the spindles were gone on all of them. Darn Mustang guys grabbing up all the Granada spindles!

Did you look under the rear of those Granadas to see what size rear they had? All Versailles came with 9 inch rears but some Granadas and Monarchs did too. What I refer to as my Versailles rear actually came out of a Granada Ghia.

Thought about hunting for a rear, but those leafsprings took all my energy. I plan on sticking with an 8" anyways, not planning on building anything that would necessitate a 9". I plan on swapping in 3.55 gears and possibly a posi when I swap over to my T-5.
