after the 302 swap in mine, I have noticed that the front is sitting alot lower than it used to :D. Before I like the way it sat but now it seams alittle high in the rear to me. I love the look of the front, just wondering the best way to lower it in the back. Is using lowering blocks the best way to get this job done or are there other options.

    Here is an after pic

Wow, that did drop the front end. I have a 1" lowering block on the rear of mine and dont have any problems. Dunno bout going 2" though. What if you just put the old 6 banger in the trunk? hehe
    Dan
ps I like that front end down in the weeds

yeah looks kinda high like you got air shocks in the back or something.

you can use a block but it would be better to it the right way and just dearch the leafs.

but remember you pinion angle might be off. there is a fix for that too... but if you don't race it i really don't think it would matter.

Very nice looking car...I think a much larger tire in the rear to fill the wheel well up would be a plus also, especially if you get it lowered. Lot of vacant room back there.

When I first built the car, the tires rubbed the quarters, so I had the leafs rearched and one added, when the six in it, it had a slight rack, but now it is just to much for me. I would love to go with a taller tire on the back, but with those wheels I would end up rubbing, and I don't want to do that. Maybe some day I can get me a new set of wheels and tires, but I don't see that happening anytime soon :(

    Thanks for the input though

I like the way it sits and I love the Keystone Classics! Those are the rims I plan on using for mine! What size tires and rims do you have now? How about putting in a set of V8 coils to push it back up?

I like that stance. It looks similar to what we used to do to our cars in the 70's.(y)

    squeal1,
what motor did you have to start with and did it have air? if it was a 250 a/c car i think it has the v8 springs already. they might just be weak.
the car looks nice with the 70s stance as hawkco, pointed out.
when i did my 302 swap mined didn't drop at all. i was hoping it would a little...frank...:bananaman :bananaman

p.s. hawkco, i bet you were thinking he was talking about short people (low boys) is why you opened the post.(y) :D :D

71 gold, it originally had the 200 w/o air. I think the front dropped down almost 2"

I went for a drive yesturday and I pulled up to a light, a vett pulled up behind me, and all I could see out of my rear veiw was about 1" of the top of the car....

Blown 76 I would take one of the leafs out of the back but the reason it was added, the old springs were weak, and they told me that just rearching would probably not last. Plus they didn't charge me for adding the leaf to begin with :D.....

i have a 1975 mav. went from a 250-6 w/ac to a 302 wno ac and put the battery in the trunk (with an external shutoff). front end came UP close to 2 inches. its a low mileage car (29,000) so the front springs haven't been beaten to death yet. battery plus ac is worth less than 100 pounds

Hey Neal you may want to try 1"-1.5" first if you go straight to 2" the front will rise some from the weight tranfer then the front will be out to high.

    Just a thought Tom H

I know a way you can drop the back of your car is the blocks that are on your car that your leafs sit on factory just turn them over and place your leaves under your rear end and you can get a 2 to 3 inch drop just from doing that
