Will I even be able to get lugs to fit this and the 2/0 welding wire? The wire will be half as big around as the breaker!!!

Yes an "ancor" brand 2/0 lug will fit on that. True...if you dont have the tools to crimp correctly soldering is an option. Dude don't buy welding cable.... buy AWG guage wire if you love your car. Soldering is not good if things get hot though....and it's not to code on boats for that reason :)

Anytime you make a solder joint you have to have a good mechanical (crimp) connection first. The solder is for security - not to make the electrical connection.

It depends on what type of cable lug you are using.

Quick Cable makes a solder lug that they call there "fusion" line and it does not require a "crimp", however, they are significantly more expensive than the crimp or crimp/solder type.

nothing beats a mechanical crimp because of the physical compression of the wire from the connector along with a dimple. Some higher priced cables are crimped AND silver soldered applications like 20- 60kw generators require this.

Been building large gens and permanent magnet motors for 30 years and the crimpers we use are hydraulic or the hand types that are adjustable with large 30-36" handles for leverage. It takes a hella force to do a "proper" connection
