Who has the factory kickdown rod attached with long tube headers??
I removed mine since it was rubbing on the headers and sticking. I shift manual anyhow but would like to put it back on this season. Just curious if it will fit with headers or if I should just order the lokar cable.

I used to have one connected on my 74, with the Headman long tubes.
The more I fool with the Lokar cable on my AOD, the more I think they suck.

I think mine is a factory rod. It looks like the factory rod. I have floor shift; don't know if that makes a difference. I bought the car last July and not all that familiar w/ it - but, getting there. I have long tube headers and they don't seem to interfer. If you like I can get a pix?

I have long tube headers and I think that I modified my kickdown rod. It has been a long time, so I can't remember exactly. I had several that I picked up from different cars. A tubing cutter, a piece of dowel rod and some epoxy glue is all you need.

I took mine off and threw it away.

It downshifts most of the time when I stomp it, I think maybe the vacuum modulator downshifts it

Haven't had it since about 6 months after I got the car.

I have mine but it's not on the car. I just haven't bothered tomake it fit yet. One of these days I'll get it back on but it's way down on the list

I have mine with the headman long tubes. it works but bottomes out on the collector when open, also is rubbing on one of the tubes. header wrap seems to protect it from heat damage...

Thats what mine was doing. It was hitting on the collector. Sounds like its a tight fit. I'll have to try and modify a few things to get it to work I guess. The Lokar cable is an option but I've heard a lot of complaints about them like Daves experience with them.

I was considering that also but i had a rough time with the LOKAR throttle cable kit, so i stuck with the rubbing rod.... something not proper with that statement... :hmmm:;)
