I thought I was going to bid on an E-bay Maverick. Then I read the description and lost interest in a hurry. Take a look... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2482650988
Ya know, I found that car too about two days ago, and somehow I didn't notice what he said about the 350. Hmmmmm.....shame on me, but a LOT MORE shame on him. David
I will have to say that those are the weirdest cobbed up headers i have ever seen. Think i would pass just on that aspect.
Looks like it'd be a fun car to have, but if I were to spend the money on it, I'd have to have it be a Ford engine. There are a few drag-racing Mustangs around Houston and it appears that they don't have many fans or supporters - Ford NOR Cheby.
I agree Rick, the reason I see a lot of these hybrids is that in most cases, the availability and price of race stuff for the Cheby's, is the main factor. These type cars are dragstrip only and being on tube frames etc., any engine combo can be adapted. The headers were made for racing and not show if you look close at them. Mid 12's is not that impressive when one of our locals uses a 351w in his similiar car and runs in the low 10's. Also have a 71 yr old racer with a 56 Ford, 440 Mopar powered, running high 11's in his 4800lb car. Anyway you look at it, makes for great competition and a lot of good humor and friendly kibbitzing. Just for info, the senior driver of the 56 Ford, ran every engine Ford made, from 352 to 460's and could not kep them in one piece, over the years, so decided to try the Mopar. Has blown a few of them too, but that is how hotrodding really began, experimenting with different power plants to enhance our need for speed. I still perfer Ford's, have 11 vehicles total, including a 1940 9n tractor. All are Ford powered except the wifes 2000 Dodge R/T Intreped, go figure.
If it makes anyone feel better, there is a guy that shows up at the So Cal drag strips in a beutifull early 70s El Camino with a built 460 in it. And he absolutly loves the Chevy guys reactions of horror.
Hey Old Guy...I'd be willing to bet that with a little imagination we could get a 302 in that Intrepid!!! Of course "we" would have to let "you" pay for it.
One day left on his acution and he has not gotten the first bid. His initial bid price may be a little high, but I suspect that if had a 351W in there, he'd get it.
