head decoding

    the best i can tell one head has the #'s 8815 and the other has 889 can anyone help???

    You need to find the casting number on the. They'll be on the lower side and will start out like C9, D0, D1, etc...

    Look on the bottom side of the intake ports.

    Or if they're late 80's -on up heads, look for a letter cast next to the valve cover rail in one corner. "T" denotes E7TE's, "S" is E6SE's, "P" is GT40P, GT is GT40.

    one has an s on one end annd a 7 on the other. the other has s 3.... are they any good.

    If the "S" is on a corner next to the valve cover rail, they're E6SE's. Not worth the bother. If they're bolted to the motor, it'll be the lower front corner of the passenger side head and the opposite corner of the driver's side head.
