It's taken quite a while, but I just got my new motor back together and installed. I did a performance build on the 250 I6 including: stock crank turned .010 and knife edged using arp main studs stock rods fitted with arp rod bolts, all flashing removed and shot peened .040 over 255 V8 pistons Classic inlines 278 solid lifter cam ( specs .475 lift and .228 dur @.050 ) balanced assembly log head previously ported and modified for double springs, direct mount 2bbl, port divider, freshened up I'm in the process of putting a few miles on the motor to seat the rings before taking it out to the dragstrip this Sunday to see how it does. The pic on the left is a shot of the engine compartment when I first bought the car and the second shot is two days ago.
Looking good! I was trying to make it out to the nostalgia races on sunday but I can't make it so I'm going to head over there saturday morning in the mustang and get a few TnT's in while there running junior drags. Let us know what kind of slips you get!
Nice going on the six! I'm a big fan myself----practically bulletproof! Once the funds become available I'll "upgrade" my 200 to the 250 with tweaks!
When you first started giving the engine specs, I envisioned a V8. I was surprised that it wound up being a 6. I would be interested in knowing how you make out at the drags. Good Luck
Gene I love it ! I'm getting a 200 6 and would like to upgrade to look and run like yours. Let us know what times you run.
Ok, ran the car at SpeedWorld on Sunday and here are the results from my best run of the day: Reaction: .04 60 foot: 2.10 1/8 mile et: 9.75 1/8 mile mph: 69.34 1/4 mile et: 15.43 1/4 mile mph: 86.59 I even made it to the semi-finals so it was a good day.
