im trying to get my engine back in the car the past couple of nights and with no luck and set back after set back im down to just one issue... i had to get a new torque converter from my c4 trans because i had to cut off one bolt on the old one to get it out.. i bought a tci-450700 from summit which is what i was told would work and be close to stock. my issue is that the bolts themselves seem to be just a hair larger than the stock bolts and in that it doesnt slide into the bolt holes on the flywheel. what do i need to do ??? if i unscrew the bolts from the torque converter they do fit in the holes but on the torque converter i cant seem to fit all 4 of them in at the same time. the only thing i can think of so i can still use it is to take a drill bit and bore the wholes out just a hair like a 32nd of an inch so it will work... would by doing that would it throw the flywheel off balance or anything or as long as its the same all the way around it will be fine??? im not racing the engine just trying to make this my daily driver. what do i need to do???? im lost and need help thanks

I had the same thing happen to me years ago, with a b/m converter.I just took a dremel, and enlarged the holes just enough to get the studs to go thru.Never had a problem with it.

EDIT: If you can only get one hole in

one thing that drove me crazy with my engine swap is that i had the wrong converter, is that converter indeed a 10 1/2 linch converter?

some time in my cars old engines life (from a granada) the trans blew and was replaced by a 164 tooth truck transmission.

also the converter lines up on the flexplate a certain way, try different ways of aligning it

i always fit my converter to the flexplate first...found this out the hard way. had one once that the paint on the snout wouldn't go into the end of the crank...had to sand the paint off.
the converter should go on the flexplate in all locations...if not something is not lined up correctly on the converter or the holes are not right in the flexplate...:yup:
...the flexplate goes on the crank only one way...

"You'll be fine, enlarging the holes evenly."

...and how are you going to "do them evenly"?

    :hmmm:...why not get a converter that fits...:yup:

if i had one (converter) that i had to modify my car to...make fit...i would be concerned about the...quaility... of the rest of the converter...

    ...:smash:...
