My rear defrost is terrible. The motor is noisy and it doesn't work very well at all. My dad modified the thing when he owned it with some ceramic resistors, a dremel, and silicone. I added an on-off toggle switch to the dash (complete with defrost symbol I printed out) that controls it so that it's either off or on, no low or anything like it had been wired to the heater switch before. But it still doesn't work very well, so I was wondering if you guys had done any mods or if you just deal with it being crappy.

Mine does muwahahaha! I think I'll add a few more resistors and replace the motor for the ultimate quiet operation, but I gan't get at the motor very easily. I'm also probably going to make a deflector since it makes air go towards the passenger side which is the only thing it defogs. Or maybe I'll put one of those electric heating element things like they have on new cars on.

I had thought about either mounting a transflow blower (with a shroud) at the back of the deck at the bottom of the window, or, you can get a blower motor, mount it below deck, and hook it up to tubes and diffusers just like the front. Still both these options are no heat, but should defog ok.
